Season 1 was an original concept that stood up and succeeded on its own, something later seasons can’t have. The best thing about Season 2 is the performances. The cast is absolutely superb! What Squid Game 2 is missing is its refusal to resolve ANY of this season’s many threads. There are plenty of ways to build suspense, but the laziest one is when you just refuse to answer all the questions you’ve been asking for an entire season and leave it at Season 3. It’s pretty clear that the show is far less interested now in telling a satisfying story and more invested in turning the franchise into a multi-season subscription retention machine.
