Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their family. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s life and expresses her feelings in violent religious-themed postcards. Despite these contradictions, the young lovers begin a new, exciting life together. Their bliss is cut short, however, after a freak accident that leaves Francis physically and mentally scarred.
