This was Regal’s Monday Mystery Movie on December 9
During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports broadcasting team must adapt to live coverage the Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group.. Was not expecting that , as I hadn’t heard much about it, but as soon as the film started, I was intrigued because I knew the story this was based on.
This was well-told and edited extremely well, with a combination of real footage from the event mixed together with the actors’ performances
It covers the events of the September 5, 1972, hostage situation carried out by Palestinian terrorists against the Israeli team during the Olympics in Munich, Germany. This film doesn’t delve into the politics of the situation but instead focuses on the ABC sports news team that had to scramble to cover the events as they unfolded.
Was very impressed with how all of that was done, and I also liked watching the story unfold through the eyes of the news team
It was interesting to see how they had to think quickly on their feet to be able to cover as much of what was happening as they could. Was also interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of news coverage – back when the mainstream news media actually acted with ethics.
Or attempted to
This isn’t an action-packed film, but I was engaged the entire time and wasn’t bored at all. It’s also a pretty short film, clocking in at around 90 minutes (although it felt longer, because of everything that was going on).
Video review to come shortly
