Fictional miniseries based on the life of Ayrton Senna da Silva, the Brazilian racing legend who won the Formula One World Championship three times. The show’s writers have said they had some restrictions due to Senna’s family’s involvement in the production.

There are no mountains in England – especially in Norfolk, which is famously flat. For all the people who say “it’s a one-sided story”, do you think Amadeus is a one-sided story?

That’s how I feel now, I don’t care who was to blame back then, I know one thing, that boy watching the races in the middle of the night, that boy chanting “Senna Senna”, that boy crying because his hero died, that was me too.
I was born a few years before he became F1 champion and every Sunday I was there to watch him race, losing his life
We, Brazilians, watched one of our own become the greatest F1 driver of all time, carrying our flag, telling everyone that he had all his men in that car, finishing the race in first place. I apologize to anyone who doesn’t know what it’s like to hear out loud that character named Galvão Bueno saying “AYRTON SENNA DO BRASIL, CAMPEÃO MUNDIAL DE FORMULA 1” (“Ayrton Senna from Brazil, Formula 1 World Champion”) and that song that played in the show played on many of our weekends for several years, it’s a shame it didn’t last longer.

I cried at the end, just like I cried in 94, my childhood hero became a myth, who cares if they didn’t tell the exact truth, I lived to see it, watching the series made me feel the way I felt then, and the series brought back all those happy and sad emotions.
